A Digital Archive for Die drei ???

This project was part of my bachelor thesis, in which I explored the design of digital archives.

As a case study, I developed a prototype for an archive of the popular German audio drama series Die drei ???.

Based on self-collected data, the interactive website lets users browse all episodes with various sorting options – such as by author or a custom “fall-asleep scale.” It also visualizes cross-references between episodes, revealing hidden connections within the series.

The result is a comprehensive, nerdy, and user-friendly platform for discovering and analyzing Die drei ??? in a whole new way.

Born from too much time during the pandemic, this project started with a deep dive into Die drei ??? – and turned into a growing archive based on a self-built dataset of every episode.

The archive’s main colors are derived from the iconic Die drei ??? logo. The headline typeface echoes a typewriter aesthetic to reinforce the feeling of a classic archive.
