Visualizing My Habits – A Colorful Timeline of Daily Yeses (and Nos)

At the beginning of the year, I decided to track a few habits — nothing too serious, just things I wanted to pay attention to.
From January to June 2025, I picked five habits each month and marked in my calendar whether I did them or not. Just a simple yes or no each day.

Later, I turned that data into a visual — because apparently, I can’t not do that.
What I Tracked
Across those six months, I focused on different things, like:
Finger stretching
Anki (a flashcard app that uses spaced repetition)
Going for a walk
Reading before bed
No YouTube Shorts
No YouTube at all
Shoulder stretches
Standing for at least one hour
No screen while eating
Some habits stuck around for a few months, others came and went. A few I dropped and later picked back up.
Revisiting an Old Idea
I actually made a similar visualization last year.

I liked seeing my habits mapped out like that, so I did it again this year, but with a few changes:
I kept it simpler: five lines per month, one for each habit
I only tracked yes or no — which also made it easier to design
I changed up the symbols and made them a bit bigger and textured, so they’d stand out more

● = habit completed, ○ = habit skipped I added little timeline endings to show if I stopped a habit, paused it, or continued it later

The format stayed the same: a curvy, snake-like timeline that winds through the months. I still really enjoy how it looks — and how it lets me reflect without getting too analytical.

Why I Keep Doing This
This kind of tracking doesn’t really tell me how “productive” I was — and that’s kind of the point. It’s more about noticing patterns, seeing when things fell off, and getting a feel for what habits actually make it into my routine.
And turning it into a visual just makes the whole thing feel a bit more real. Plus, I get to play with color and shapes, which is always a bonus.
